Mantra Mandala

Mantra Mandala is a kirtan band based in Asheville, North Carolina. The band was formed in 2023 by a group of friends drawn together by a love of sacred chanting, yoga, and community building.

Mantra Mandala features Jeremy Staum (vocals, harmonium), Nina Kawar (vocals, percussion), Timothy Burgin (percussion) and Daniel Guyer (cello). The band draws inspiration from the rich lineage of kirtan and bhakti yoga, infusing traditional chants with modern harmonies and arrangements, covering hits of Western kirtan, and writing original mantra music.

The band's name, Mantra Mandala, represents the intention behind their music. Mantra and mandala are both meditation tools. Mantra is the repetition of sacred sounds. Mandala is a geometric design that represents the wholeness of the Self. The band's music is like a mandala formed of mantras, transporting listeners into the state of connectedness that is yoga.
